Before I came here, I wanted to have American or European friends as my roommate so that I can have as many opportunities as possible. For this reason, I applied to on-campus dormitory, but the result was quite disappointing. I found that I have 2 Korean roommates out of 5 roommates; as a result, I requested housing office to assign me to another room so that I can interact with foreign students more often.
The first month for me in the U.S.A was very nice and I have nice memories from that month. First of all, I didn’t know how to get to university. In fact, when I went to the LAX airport, I was looking for taxi. I founded the area that I looking for and it was very big green city. This city name is Fullerton. Second, I went to U.S.A with my wife, and the third week was my birthday. It was nice perfect month to me, because that time it is first time I visit the U.S.A, my wife with me, and my birthday in the first month. Finally, I went to ALP office, and I got my wife and my schedule to found the classes and get the books for our classes. I found helpful people. They help me to get my way and to found my the book store. I like the first month in U.S.A.
I have many experiences in my first month in the US. When I put my step in the US at the first time, I was a little bit nervous and excited. Even though I don't know what to do and where to go, I have many friends. So we were doing something to do together and I can overcome the nervousness. After we found a hotel where we reserved before, we opened account and bought a cell phone. I was getting used to be near university. After starting first semester, there are some difficulties such as registration, housing, and paying tuition. I met some people to help me, finally I was done. Now I live on campus dormitory. I made some friends and signed up the tennis club. I know what to do and where to go when I have problems or I’m danger. I think I’m good until now. I have to know more things about the US. It will take a long time to get used to be here.

I visited U.S., UCR, for a month on 2010, and it was really surprising experience. At first, I was really surprised with the weather of California. My country, Korea, was winter at that time, so it was very cold-almost freezing. California, however, there was sunshine and palm tree. I tried to have a lot of travel as much as I can, so I signed in every trip which was operated by UCR. I visited a lot of spots: Sea World, San Diego, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Disneyland, Universal Studio, and Six Flags Mountain. It was just short time visit, even if I attended in UCR. I just focused on enjoying the life of California. After I go back to Korea, this experience remained as a good memory.
My first month in America was hard time to me. I really wanted to study abroad here. when the first time I came here a month ago, I was happy and had no problem. But everything was getting worse. My big problem is that I am not good at English, so it made me lost confidence and depressed. I tried to make friends. Now everything is getting better. I made a lot of friends in dorm, sometimes they hangout with me or teach American culture.
My first month in U.S was very difficult for me. It wasn’t that easy but I tried to enjoy it as much as I can because I am finally in California. I was trying hard for more than 9 months to be here in U.S. I did many important things in my first month as usual as most of the student do. First, I locked for a living place and I found it in one week. Second, I applied for California id at the DMV in Fullerton. Third, it took me three weeks until I found a used car and it was really hard time I had without car. Then, I bought a cellphone to turn off my Saudi number and start with the American number. To sum up, I did almost the most important things in my first month which made me more comfortable to deal with life here.
Actually, Before I came the U.S, I expected lot of things to do here. Because I heard lots of thing in U.S and saw lots of fun to do in movies from Hollywood. Futhermore, I will meet some friend from other counties and will speak in English well, I hope so. My first month in the U.S was so distracted. It means that there were lots of thing I've never seen in my country from L.A.X. Otherwise U.S has lots of things to fun. When I got the apartment that I rented, I went to college, The Cal state Fullerton. And I bought some furniture and others to live. About a week after, I've been to Sandiego to meet my friend who is my best friend sine I was 7. He has lived the U.S since 5 years ago because he entered U.S.C.D. The Sandiego is much larger than Fullerton and awesome. There are some amusement parks like SeaWorld and Club and bars in downtown. We had a fun time in Sandiego about 3 days, and I was back to Fullerton. And then my 3 roomates came! so we registered college and met others from my college. Actually, there are 10 peoples in here from my college. Finally, that were not many things and incredible things that I had. But I love what I did and I hope I will be here long-time in U.S. Because living in U.S gives me lots of chance to meet other friend and opportunities to visit famous place like Grand Canyon or Las Vegas. Lastly, I appreciate my parents to support me to come here.
My first time in The U.S was one of the most difficult times in my life for many reasons. First of all, I face a hard time to find a good apartment, after I found good one I had shocked about rent system they used to look for my whole information I had to wait on weak more at a hotel until they finished their procedures. Second, it was hard to found Arabic restaurants ^ ^ but now I have a list for it. Finally, some time when I talk with native people they misunderstand me that I have different pronunciation. On the other hand I misunderstand native people because they have much slang that I cannot deal with it. In short, It had credible moment but a good experience at the same time.
Name: Yuan Advance Com 5 My First Month in the US As an international student, I could learn lots of things when I visited to other countries. However, I had made many funny stories on my first month in America. I still remembered that my first time came to American is on 2008, and my Chinese university had found an American host family for me. My new “family members” were very nice and friendly, and they taught me many things about American culture, and even the trash can part. One day, my host mom left a note to me, and she said she wanted me to help her to throw our garbage bag into the trash can. When I stayed in China, I have lived in an apartment, so I used the public trash can all the time. In contrast, almost every American family has their own trash can, but before I had the awkward experience nobody tell me this information. In addition, I didn’t find any trash can which were put in front of our community area. Thus, I was wearing my cute pajamas and running across two streets. After that, I put the heavy garbage bag into a neighbor’s trash can. After three days, my host family told me that the neighbor whom I had thrown my garbage bag into his trash can had complained the garbage cleaning company. The reason was the company didn’t help him empty his trash can. Finally, this is just one of my funny stories, but I have learned a lot of things from my experience. Furthermore, I never feel sad about I have made some mistakes in US because I could learn more things from my mistakes.
Since I came to the US for studying, I have struggled to learn English very fast. I was working networking engineering when I decided to continuo my education. During two weeks I was preparing for a new adventure. I finished all projects I had and talked to my bosses about my plan. My parents engorged me also my sisters. In April 2011 I reached LAX. My family’s friends were waiting in the airport. We went to their home in Glendale. There was the rest of their family waited us for a party. The first two weeks was horrible because I had jet time so I couldn’t sleep enough. During in these two weeks, I went to social security department to get my SSN and DMV to get a new ID. I studied hard in the classes and hanged out with friends. I have known many things either in English classes or American life.
